Don't take this souvenir home with you!
Road Rash occurs when you fall off your moped and an unprotected part of your body is
scraped by the road (or a wall). Particularly vulnerable are your hands, arms, legs and
your face.
Serious road rash can ruin your vacation.
Prevention is Better Than Cure
By taking a few simple precautions, you can help prevent injury, and be a safer, more
confident rider.
For your safety, please read the following very carefully.
- Keep Left
We drive on the LEFT - that's probably the biggest difference you'll find. It's especially
important to remember this at junctions, where instincts often prevail.
- Speed
The speed limit island-wide is 35 kph (or about 21 mph). In the town of St. George it is
reduced to 25 kph. Please take corners and bends slowly and carefully.
- Practice Makes Perfect
Don't leave the cycle livery until you feel confident riding the cycle. If you do not,
please do not rent one. If you have any questions about the cycle be sure to ask your
instructor BEFORE you start out.
Fasten Your Helmet
You must wear an approved helmet when riding a cycle. Please make sure it is correctly
fitted and fastened at all times when riding.
Roundabout Rule
Roundabouts (or traffic circles) are not as complicated as they look. Just remember to
give way to traffic already on the roundabout, coming from your right. Once you are on the
roundabout, you have the right of way.
Stop And Smell The Roses
If you want to stop to admire the view, take a picture, or consult your road map, PLEASE
pull well off the road on to a grass verge, or wait for a lay-by. NEVER stop on a corner
or roundabout. Happy Sightseeing!
We want you to enjoy your holiday. Riding a moped can be a pleasurable way to take in
the sights. Please ride with safety in mind. Following these notes of caution will help to
ensure that you do not become a road accident statistic.
